On Friday the 13th of February 2009, a night marked by a sober lighting
design and grand scale projections, STUDIO SPAZIO light laboratory officially opened its doors thanks to the great efforts made by the Aviés group
(Arq. Gustavo Avilés, e Ing. Carlos Avilés) to
promote the culture of light in Mexico.
The space was officially inaugurated after an
emotional speech made by the Avilés brothers. Among the guests were businessmen,
architects, designers, special guests and close friends, all of whom enjoyed a
pleasant evening in this new venue which showcased the technology which Studio
Spazio specializes in:
Martín lighting fixtures, Erco,
Artemide, and Delta Light were displayed to show off their original design,
quality and power.
To the surprise of many guests and even some of the
passer bys, the building containing the laboratory was dressed with grand scale
images produced by PANI macro projectors, an Austrian company with great
experience in the development of this technology specializing in scenery and
urban landscapes. These devices have a unique way of changing the perspective
of the observer by transforming the facades of buildings by having a 6000 Watt
lamp project images onto them.
The building's surface and that of a neighboring building
were suddenly transformed into green facades, city landscapes or even an
aquarium. When contemplated from different perspectives they created a special
atmosphere, enjoyed by all spectators. Inside the building, the facilities
invited anyone present to be absorbed in a wave of color and movement which
made everyone a witness of the latest in lighting.
The spaces of the light laboratory were decorated with
the work of plastic artist Kishi, who
is also in charge of the glass workshop, a place dedicated to the production of
uniquely colored glass pieces. When
visiting the facilities one is struck by the amazing combination of light and
glass.
Studio Spazio is not only a store; it is a place of
multidisciplinary character, a place for research, development, promotion and
encouragement for new lighting technologies. Here you can find brands with the
