LIGHT INSPIRATION
Without inspiration, choices in design are impossible, and conversely, inspired choices become quite second nature. Without it, Lighting Design is little more than illumination.
There were as many stories as there were people in the audience
We headed towards an unknown, away from the beaten path, where again, there lay little expectations, and by the same token, infinite possibilities
And throughout the process, inspiration kept on coming, because we were willing to accept it, to be surprised, we left room for the unexpected and refused to be bogged down by a pre-established method, which would have led us down a beaten path.
Lighting, being a means rather than an entity unto its own, is intrinsically linked with other means, like stage and costume design, music and choreography. From this, we can understand that the nature of each experience is determined by the nature of the relationship between the different crafts.
Inspiration is not something to be found and discussed strictly at the onset of the creative process and then put aside, but rather, it is something which carries you through the entire creative process by occurring again and again.
